Whilst you can present yourself however you wish there are certain things an employer in the UK expects to see on a CV. You'll have more success if you use a standard layout as it helps the recruiter locate the information they're looking for quickly and easily.

An employer spends less time than you imagine looking at your CV - make sure the reasons you're right for the job are instantly obvious at a quick glance. Ideally you should tailor your CV, making small changes for every job you apply for to give yourself the best possible chance at gaining an interview.
